Hey everyone. I am so glad to have found this group. I just found out my husband will be deployed soon, and we will be going through our first deployment together. Any pointers would be great!

Im new to all of this so I have no idea how the whole "ombudsmen" thing works... What exactly are they there for and how do they get ahold of me or viceversa?

does anyone have advice as to what is the BEST way to talk to my husband whenever he may get the chance while on deployment. I have heard we should get him a phone card but I wasn't sure of any other/all ways that are possible

Pamela, OPSEC wasnt really the problem but more a deciding factor. I guess it was just being used way too much and getting out of hand.

Good evening Ladies and Gents. I am actually a Marine wife and my husband is joining your Navy boys for this deployment. I was hoping to connect and bond with this branch during these next long months. :)

Oh also, He told me that facebook had been secured on the ship. I am not sure if that goes for all 3 ships or just the pearl harbor. So no contact through facebook = ( Its so much easier than email. lol.

My husband is on the USS pearl harbor and is an IT. He has a personal email address but I am not sure how often He can email me back. 7 months without talking is going to be a lot harder than 8 weeks was for BC. This is our first deployment so I am nervous and unsure of everything.
