For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by diannep on January 21, 2013 at 3:58pm: Cincin: If your sailor is not staying in GL for A School...yes, your sailor can return with you on the shuttle. If staying in GL, your sailor has to move over there shortly after PIR ends, and you pick up there later for liberty.

If leaving with you from RTC, it can take 30-45 minutes or longer after your hugs in PIR Hall to meet up with your sailor again. They have to return to their ships before heading out on liberty. We waited so long for mine that I was sure he had "passed us" and I walked all the way to the front gate looking for him. Nope, it just took that long.

When you leave PIR Hall, ask your sailor where you should meet up. Many do just in front of the NEX but with so many people there, you may want to meet somewhere else.

Are the sailors allowed to go on there with us? Any idea how long we will have to wait to meet up with our sailor? PIR is the 25th can't wait, safe travels everyone. Thanks for the info.

Comment by diannep on January 21, 2013 at 3:43pm: kimmie: If they can move up his start date, they will. If the classes are full, he will be on "hold" until space is freed up. Normally they hold them at the A School if they have the physical space for him there after he PIRs. Occasionally some are held a few days at RTC in situations like this. If they are held at RTC, you should have daytime liberty with them through the weekend. But normally, they try to ship them out to make room for new SRs.

Comment by Dm (Ship 03 Division 075) on January 21, 2013 at 1:29pm: BTW, we do plan to stay until 9pm at Sarge's, looking forward to meeting everyone !!! Our division 075 hasn't been through Battlestations , also because they did poorly on their inspections Saturday they lost the privilege to call home that day. They did win at the Captains Cup event , YAY !!!
