N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Got a letter!!! My SR is an E2 now. He seemed pretty excited about that. Looking forward to the next week going by fast. Although just letters, I think I have talked to him more while at BC then I had in the 6 months prior.  I am working (and have been for the past weeks) every day so I could get my shifts covered to go. Swapping shifts...

Thanks so much ihill, I know you will look great and be warm in that special Navy Grandma Sweatshirt :) I am so glad you love it.

Still waiting on the snow to begin, Hubby wants to sleep in so he is begging it to snow lol.

...one more thing on the photos:  If you are going to have to get them after PIR, you don't have to do it right after the ceremony.  You can do it any time during that day.  Some come back later to pick up the photos when there is pretty much no one there.

Comment by diannep on January 17, 2013 at 9:01pm

kimmie:  There are honor guards for each division, standing in front of that section with the division number.  You'll find it!  Your sailors should be right in front of you once they have marched around the PIR Hall and stop....but they have their backs to you first....since it's cold, they will march in with trenchcoats on, most likely (otherwise, they carry them folded up).  They are given the order to remove "outerwear" which is collected by others....then....they are given the order to about face.  What a moment!

ph6918:  The photos can be mailed home IF the SR paid for them.  If they are waiting for you to pay for them at PIR, you have to get them in the NEX after PIR.  Totally understand wanting this as it is quite packed in the NEX right after PIR.

Got a letter today! Looks like his division is getting into some trouble for not keeping quiet?! You'd think they have it together by now huh?....

That awesome jdrs! Our SRs will be in A school together! have you joined the group for Meridian yet? I just joined but its not as active as we're used to =0/

How do we know where to sit at graduation?  Are the bleachers sectioned off per division?  The reason why I ask is I was just watching a video from graduation and I want to make sure I sit in front of my SR's division.  How do we know where they are going to be lined up?

Hello everyone!:)
Hope everyone has Had a great week!
Just got a letter from my boyfriend saying that his division is getting a ricky freedom on Saturday this week!
He's in division 075 :) I honestly didn't know what that was at first but then he explained that It was when they had three hours to do whatever they wanted. Whether it was eating fast food, playing games, Internet ,or calling people! So I guess keep your phone close by to you on Saturday! I don't know if the Ricky freedom goes for everyone, I wish I knew :( but I do know that division 75 is getting that privilege!:)

BeeBee- Thank you for posting that! Woo-Hoo!

I have IE and don't know if it is that or what... but the page doesn't load properly (it's not your link BeeBee, it's fine!) so if it does that to you...

when you get to the page go to the left and click "CONUS Stores" (CONUS is Continental US and OCONUS is OUTSIDE Continental US) then from the drop down click "ILLINOIS".

You'll get this:

Burkey Mall
Home Gallery
Housing Mini-Mart / Gas Station
Recruit Store / Photo Lab
Student Store

Recruit Store/Phot Lab is the one you want for RTC.

Burkey Mall is the one on Green Bay road (you need ID so your Sailor has to be with you...at elast for the Commisary I did so I am assuming they will check at the NEX too.)

Housing mini mart/Gas station is the one located near the Nacy Lodge. You don't ened ID to purcahse gas outside at the pumps. But there was an employee waiting at the door when I went insdie to the mini mart asking for ID. Navy Lodge will provide you with a free pass to go there. Looks like this:

The other two listed may be on the Main Base area (not sure :-))
