~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Business or dressy casual is suggested, although there is no dress code.  But remember that your sailors will be in their finest!  Stay warm and have comfortable walking shoes/boots on since there is some walking involved on the base.  I wore nice black jeans, sweater, boots, jacket when there....felt comfortable.  But you will see some dressed "to the hilt" and others who seemed to just walk off of the beach!

Good Morning All!

Plane ticktes purchased, car rental done, hotel arrangements made.  Can't wait to go...   So what is appropriate to wear to PIR.   Now I can think about that.

Thank you diannep!  That is valuable info:)

SRmom:  No, the SRs love to get the letters from the classes of kids!  That is the only way to send them...in one envelope addressed to the SR, who can pass them out.   They will love it!

Yes, you can send your daughter the contacts/makeup.  Has she asked for it?  We usually suggest you not send until they ask so they are expecting it...she will just have to put away until PIR.  But with PIR next week, it is time to send it!   Some label the outside of the package re: contents.  It will still be opened in front of RDCs though, but not an issue.

Sorry I have been MIA for a couple of Days. Our internet company did an upgrade to make our internet "better." Well I don't know if it is better, but after two days of being offline, suffering from withdrawal from being away from this site and facebook for too long, and a repair man making not one but two trips to our house and two new modems I am at least back online :) YAY!!!

Diannep: thank you for answering the question about when to stop writing to my SR. I'm very excited and can't wait to see him!

ShellyD: it's good to hear that your SR is doing great. Congratulations!!
Yes, we will attend Sarge's Meet & Greet (it will be nice to meet everyone).

Just received a letter from my SR. Div 76 is really doing well. They are tied for 2nd in the rankings and have won several ribbons. They had their pictures last Friday but have not placed orders yet. They still have 2 more big test and several inspections left and of course battle stations. 9 more days to see our SR. I wish everyone a safe travel driving and flying to PIR. See you at Sarges meet and greet.

Comment by Mommahead on January 16, 2013 at 7:10pm

So as far as mail goes, I've heard other teacher moms say they have sent letters for the division through their SR (probably in a big envelope).  That won't cause issues, will it?  Also, I can send my daughter contact and makeup for PIR as well, right?

Comment by diannep on January 16, 2013 at 6:24pm

Thanks, Ladies, for the date for 073/074 (BattleStations).  That confirms the one I received from someone earlier!

Dm:  Hard to say if they will receive all of them before PIR....but any that they don't receive will be forwarded to their A School.  We usually suggest that you all stop writing a week before PIR if you want to make sure they arrive (hopefully!).  Or--- if you want to keep writing, then copy those letters and take them with you to PIR in case they didn't arrive.
