What will their rank be immediately following PIR?
As far as rank or "rate" most sailors will still be at E-1. However, if your sailor chose to study before boot camp and take an optional E-2 test at boot camp then there is a chance that they can be E-2. "A" school is a different story however. I have heard that with my husband's CTN program, for example, they are bumped up to E-4 once they graduate. However that will completely depend on what program they are in. Thanks so much for the info! He has two years of college under his belt and took online classes while in training, so maybe that'll bump him up. He's my nephew and godson. I don't know if he took an E-2 test, but hopefully he did. Again, thanks for the info.
During Bootcamp, they actually have a chance to move up as high as E-3....it is not easy to do, but some are able to do it. My son had his 2 yr college degree when he went in, which allowed him to go in as an E-3.
