I booked a suite at the Hilton Homewood Suites. We have two daughters and the extra space is nice for the kids to run around and not feel so cooped up. They also have free breakfast and an evening reception with free dinner and drinks. My husband and I usually stay at Embassy Suites when we travel so this was the closest I could find. After the Navy dicount it was $89 a night which was comparable to some of the other hotels. It is about 14 miles from RTC but we will be driving up since we are just outside of St. Louis. Oh and they have a full kitchen! I called several of the hotels near RTC and they were all very receptive when I asked about discounts.

Do you think I have joined this group too soon, since I have nothing on my SR except that he got to GL at 10:30 pm on 1/6?
Comment by diannep on January 14, 2015 at 9:12pm

Milwaukee is the shorter drive, not Midway....sorry!  Got my M's mixed up....trying to supervise a 15 mo old and eat dinner while doing this!

Comment by diannep on January 14, 2015 at 9:11pm

Call the hotels directly (not the 800 chain number, the actual hotel) and ask for the Navy Graduation discount.  That will save you some!  Most hotels have it....not the Navy hotels though.

Don't buy refundable....buy with Southwest Airlines!  No change fee.....check out both Milwaukee and Midway (Chicago).  Midway is a little shorter drive, cheaper car rental, no traffic.

Tiff S, Just saw that you had posted yesterday.  Saw that your son got to GL on 1/6.  Mine got there 1/5.  Called us at 12:53 a.m. on 1/6.  What time did your son call?
