OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

chach18,

No problem!  You can either park at the train station lot which is across the street from the RTC parking structure and walk onto RTC with your IDs and onto the graduation hall.  Not sure if the train station charges for parking.  To get to the train station, stay to the left of the line of cars waiting to turn into the RTC gate on Buckley Road, go straight and you will see the metro train station beyond.

Or, you can use a Sarge's shuttle to go to PIR and back at $3.00 per person each way.  I think your Sailor rides free.  If you're going to Sarge's Meet & Greet, you can sign up there.  Here's Sarge's cell if you want to make arrangements that way 847-212-0246.   You may want to put your new Sailor on a Sarge shuttle to get him back after leave on Friday so you can rest before meeting him at the airport.  You can save money by coordinating with another family at your hotel whose Sailor also needs to get back to RTC at the same time as your Sailor if they want to use Sarge then too~~

You can take a shuttle or taxi or park at the train station across the street and walk onto base and then check in. You won't need it unless you drive onto base.

our family forgot our gate pass code to get on to the base and the letter with code is in Louisiana and we are in Illinois!. what do we do?
