~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

If she had bunny ears, she would be the cutest snow bunny!! So sweet, Lala!!
Thanks sooo much Diannep!
Welcome to the group, rhonda!
Adorable, Lala! She is precious!
For those who have some free time (does that still exist?? HA), take your time and explore this site. That is the best way to learn. I know for those accessing from phones, it is a bit more tricky. Best to do it on a computer if possible. Use the tabs at the top of this page...explore the "groups" tab. Want to find a group where your your sailor will be attending A School? Put in the city of the A School in the "Groups/search bar." Want to find a group for your sailor's job in the Navy? Put that in there too.
I was overwhelmed by this site when I first got on it over 4 years go...but now...after so much exploring and experimenting, I think I can do it blindfolded! Don't get discouraged. There is info all over the place on here. Most of the info that is in the FB groups was taken from this site. Read the "pages" section to the right and above on this page. Go back to previous PIR groups (there is a PIR most every Friday---just put PIR (then mm-dd-yyyy) in the Groups/search to find a previous PIR group. You can read through the groups without joining them and learn alot from those pages.)
Here's a PIR group to start with. They just PIRed last week. Just click on the link below and read!
Great that you are getting those form letters. Now you can send the letters you have been writing :) Continue to write every day if you can, it helps them get through the next day and believe me they will thank you for it :)
My Sailors are in VA Beach and they got snow last night. Their baby girl will be 6 months old on Friday and this is her first snow. She is the only reason I can think of that would make me want to go out in the snow lol.
just got the letter!!
ship 11 div 099
So happy to see my daughters handwriting. Would have loved to see the look on her face when she finally realized why her Dad always writes in all caps lol
...by the way, we no longer delete the PIR groups after PIR. ellen changes the title to "Alumni of PIR ____" and the group stays--- so all can stay in touch!
Mickee6K: Just saw your groups on your page and realized that our sons graduated on the same day! Small world! He was in Div 076 and since yours was in 075 (brother divisions who trained together), they may have known each other. Wow...in the 4 yrs I have been helping on the groups here, I don't think I have ever run into someone from my son's PIR group. I was so sorry when our PIR group creator deleted our PIR group... :-( ....a couple of months after PIR. I see that you had a separate division group so you could stay in touch.
I'm going to friend request you to see if you will share your son's last name. My son has now been honorably discharged and is back home, hoping to complete his Bachelors by this summer on the GI Bill, so I could ask him if he remembers your son. I know that there were LOTS of SRs between the 2 divisions, but just maybe! :-)
Good Morning All !
Mickee6K: Glad to see you jumping in, as a N4Moms veteran, to help the newbies! I know that you can offer lots of advice/info from your first time through Bootcamp!
