For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by zStratMom on February 15, 2012 at 6:26pm: Hi, folks - I would highly recommend SARGE's meet & greet. One way to make sure you connect with the other families from your son or daughter's ship/div is to wear the scarf your group decides on. Each division selected a different color, and you can either (1) make a simple fleece scarf in the color selected, (2) purchase any scarf in the color selected, or (3) order a scarf from Lala - who also makes ribbons!

This is a fun way to recognize others from your group. : ) I'll be out of town for the next two days, but will try to check in on you soon!

Also, since she will drive her recruit back later...tell her to make sure she has a gate pass for entrance with her vehicle to RTC. If she decides to drop him off at the gate she doesn't need it but it adds time to the walk. When returning them onto base they will either have you take them to the Parking garage for PIR or the Chapel parking on the other side near the NEX...that is as far as civilians are allowed to go.
You don't need the gate pass for the shuttle.
