just want to remind everyone to please NOT post anything your SR tells you in phone calls and letters the information can be seen by everyone and anyone and they will get in trouble for YOUR mistake! Do not make them suffer for our ignorance. Thank you. This includes any and all information on this blog. If you question it then don't even write it on here, they can see everything posted here!
I suggest if you wrote something that was shared in your letters for instance how they're doing on tests and things of this nature you delete them immediately our SR's are being punished for what you are saying do you really want to make this experience harder for them? Help them out and delete all of your comments a lot of you posted way too much information! You're only hurting them if you're going to share do it somewhere else, this is not the place to do it!
better late than never and we are glad you found it too :-)
Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply! I hope he gets one and yes, I will send one today! It wont get there in time Im sure but for the next one, if a next one is allowed. You would think that after all these years I would learn not to listen to him on certain issues. I also wish I had found this site before he left but at least Ive found it now!
Thanks again!
Hoping that maybe some more calls will come in today for you all! Have a good Sunday!
When they arrive at bootcamp they receive basic toiletries to get by for a while. They also receive the NEX card with $150.00 on it that FTLW mentioned below. At about the same time as they are running out of needed items they also will be ready for their first phone calls. They usually schedule a trip to the NEX for supplies where they can also purchase the phone card if they didn't come with one. They are only allowed to buy specific items and aren't even allowed on certain isles in the NEX, definitely no candy or soda lol but phone cards yes. They know they will need it and those who don't have one will get one. They want to make that call :-) It can still be a good idea to send one because they do use up so many minutes just to make calls. Also some cell phone carriers do allow collect calls. When my Sailor's card ran out she called me collect on my cell. It was $10 for the 7 min call, best call I ever paid for and at that time I would have accepted it if it had said it was $100.00 lol My cell carrier is Sprint.
Oh noooo! I asked my son if he needed a calling card and he said no! He said his recruiter told him they would get them there. From everyone is saying he will be allowed to call soon and I cant get a card to him in time:(
Does anyone know if they can buy one there? And if so what about money? They were only allowed to take 10 to 15 dollars so now I am worried. I have done well with this venture we are on till just now and I am worried about this card. I would hate if he cant call because of this or if it would be a short call. Oh well, nothing I can do about it now but I will get a card in the mail to him tomorrow!
Thanks Lora, I heard that 095 was calling on Tuesday....fingers crossed :)
Micki it looks like 919 is making the calls :-)
