OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Events

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. There are now tickets issued, and there are no longer parking passes for PIR.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Logan, from what I know they are supposed to be in uniform the whole time they are with you. At least in public.

I have a question for BeachBunny, or anyone who can answer. I wanted to know if we can give them a small bag with personal stuff at the airport for them to take with them? I was thinking like some of her undies and a change of civilian clothes til she can go shop on her own? When can we hand them over their cell phones?

Friends,

        "I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;

even at night my heart instructs me.

I have set the Lord always before me.

Because He is at my right hand,

         I will not be shaken."

Thanks. Really appreciate the reply. We have only gotten 1 phone call 5 weeks ago and it was a VM!

Sounded like we should be expecting calls today from 127 and 128.... Hopefully soon ;-)

Comment by Bobbo on March 20, 2013 at 2:43pm

Does anyone know if 128 has gone through BS or are they doing it today? Just wondering about "the call" that is supposed to happen two days prior to PIR.

Comment by deckard88 on March 20, 2013 at 1:50pm

I was unaware of that diannep on facebook everyone is mentioning last names to find friends of their sons or wives.

Comment by diannep on March 20, 2013 at 8:26am

OOOPS, deckard.  Remember, we can't post last names of SRs on here...can you click on the "x" in the post box and delete?  What you CAN do is ask if there is anyone with a SR in Div ___ from (city/state) with the last name starting with E.  Hopefully that person is on here and will find you!

Good Morning All!

Woohoo, more phone calls coming in.

You all are only a couple days away from that best hug ever.

Cute smileys hug
