N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Winski:  I am so very sorry....oh my.  I know you just mentioned this diagnosis recently...was so hoping you had more time.  To have that precious dog in your arms with those final breaths must have been so heart wrenching...but then again, so comforting to him to have you there.  The pain of losing a pup is so very hard....I have three dogs, two older...and I dread going through that pain again.

Your son's plan to take an "alone" shower for an hour was just about exactly what my son did too!  I think he thought he had died and gone to heaven!  There is such a thing as "too much company" in the showers at bootcamp!

Oh, Winski, I'm so sorry about your furry baby.  I don't have housepets (it's a rule I have had forever as I am an independent baker and cannot have pet hair in a cake or cookies that are sold to someone else), but I do enjoy watching the deer, turkeys, squirrels and birds in our yard.  If something were to happen to them, I would be so hurt, too.  Sending you a Navy cyber (((HUG))).

But BIG SMILES to you for the "heads up" warning your son gave about the shower he wants ... all my daughter has asked for was some chocolate, time in a park with 2 other sailors she's friends with and their families, and a nice meal that includes Greek food.  Done, done, and done.  If she wants a long, private shower, too, I can deal with that!  I'd do anything for her to enjoy our time with her.

NavyMom315, I was wondering about the calls.  We haven't gotten one since 3/8.  His last letter (written last Sunday) said they might get a phone call on Tuesday, which had come and gone by the time we got the letter so not sure what happened there.

Hope everybody has a Happy Easter!  12 days!

Winski, I am so sorry about your little dog. Losing a pet is awful, and especially when your son isn't there.  It's great that your son is doing well and they got pizza - I can't imagine what they were willing to do for pizza!!  And that's the funniest thing about the shower - I'm glad you said something so we'll be prepared if that's #1 on Reid's list too :-)

My thoughts are with you - see you soon!

My heart is so sad tonight. I lost my little Maltese dog after 13years. He had congestive heart failure and died in my arms today. He was my baby, and now I will have to tell my son after graduation. Bandit always slept in my sons room. We always laughingly said it was because of all the interesting smells in there(if you have a son, you know EXACTLY what I mean!). On another note, My son just called and he was so full of good news. His division is in Ricky heaven he said. They are being treated to some snacks and pizza, because they've done so well on all their inspections and tests. He is so excited for graduation, and said, "mom I'm just going to give you a heads up on what's going to happen Friday night after graduation." I said, "oh no! What? " ( thinking something was wrong!) He said, "I'm going to take at least an hour long shower at your hotel with absolutely no naked men around!" Haha!

Fishing quilter not much military experience here either. I was quite surprised when my son announced he was joining. But you are right about this site. I'm so thankful a mom mentioned it to my son who mentioned it to me. Then he wanted me to stop following because I kept saying, "Did you know....?" Before he left for BC. He said I was driving him crazy! But it has pulled me through and taught me so much! I just don't know how other families get informed on anything if they are not here!

I am more than happy to do nametags for anybody, regardless if they're in my SRs division or not. Just message me if you want. I will work out details this week on how to connect with you at Sarge'.
