Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Div 143 - Letters from my "nearly Sailor" to 3 different family members today! The best ones were to his gf. There were 2 pages of things that others in 143 and 144 had written about him, and some were really complimentary. Some were the typical "boy stuff". Really proud of my young man, today and always. The Navy has been exactly what he needed.

Just got calls from both of my SR's⚓⚓ (Ship9 Div149). ⚓⚓Thank goodness i can cinference on my iphone. One called and a minute later the other did too so i talked to both at the same time. ❤They got their ID's taken today. Their Division has all their flags. One got a ribbon for Marksman and the other for Sharpshooter. Both sounded good and I can't wait to squeeze them ❤

Rymom:  The ribbons you mentioned he got will be on his uniform at PIR...they are horizontal ribbons....the National Defense Ribbon is the multi-colored one....the live fire is a black one next to it.  Those are their first ribbons that hopefully they can add to! They are displayed on their left chest.

Powerful words that your son said!  So proud!

Ry-mom, that is amazing.  You obviously raised a wonderful boy and now you're watching him mature into a wonderful man who is serving his country with honor.  Congratulations and thank you for sharing!  *tears*
