For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Got my form letter yesterday and was hoping to get a real letter today but no dice. O well it will come soon. PLEASE. I miss her. I am trying to be good and not cry but sometimes it so hard. She is in Div 14, Ship 151. You would think I could handle this better being the 2nd time around but no still checking the mail everyday and hoping for that letter.

Hi melindy! My daughter only called because I needed to fax over documents pertaining to her security clearance, otherwise I don't think she would have called. So if you SR has everything they need they may not call home. Like they say no news is good news :)

I know the endless wait for the letter. Gerald's mom and I were lucky that we received our letters less than a week from when our boys left for RTC. Another mom whose son left the same day didn't get her letter until 4 days later. I too stalked the postman and just about tackled him the day the letter came. I just kept busy writing letters every day and putting them in envelopes waiting for the address :) I find it comfort in just talking to the computer screen and typing at the same time. My husband thinks that I've lost it :) lol (fyi..I lost it a LOOOONGGG time ago lol )

Question about the Security clearance phone call. My daughter took with her all her reference in her address book. She is a Nuke candidate, will they still have her call? When do they actually call these references? Thanks
