OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

monica - Just to confirm (add to Gerald's Momms' comment) ....no, they do not allow anymore than the allotted amount into Graduation. There is no stand-by list or waiting area and any other Guests must wait off-base to see their new Sailor. :-(

Hi Jewlz, my son got to GL last Thursday. I got the box yesterday, but the first attempt to deliver on Tuesday. And still no letter.

Hi everyone, My son arrived at BC a little over a week ago. I received his box on Monday but have not gotten the form letter. Can anyone tell me about how long it took to get yours? I find myself stalking our mail carrier. I was hoping in the box I would find something. I kinda looked at every item very carefully like there maybe would be a secret message, nope just dirty laundry I always complained about but now, not so much......

Debi, I just found out the box has been here for a few days. My hubby put in in my boy's room. (maybe to save himself from my tears lol).

Shorts in November, December, January, February, March..etc..thats all my boys want to wear but they are WI  boys :) To them they only put on long pants IF the windchill is in the negative numbers :) lol

Comment by diannep on February 28, 2013 at 9:54am

Yep, rushing them through processing after they measure for their boots!  My son wore shorts when he went up (in Nov...go figure....S FL boy!) so I didn't experience that.  But many ladies have been perplexed by the one rolled up pants leg!

Your emotions are very normal.  Up and down!  But you will be so excited at PIR!  Trust me on that!  :-)

Good Morning All!
