Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by RefuseToSink on March 16, 2015 at 11:45pm: The recruiter told me that the Navy has more uniforms than any other branch...they have 13 designs! So ok, white it is! Haha...my son will have more outfits than he ever thought possible. I shall call him mr. fashion now, just to tease... he has never owned any other than one brand of jeans, one style of tshirts, etc. He is very plain and loves that simplicity. Will be fun to say he has so many outfits now lol...

Comment by diannep on March 16, 2015 at 11:21pm: Amelia: True, Southwest doesn't change a change fee to change flights, and 2 bags check for free. Check both Milwaukee WI and Chicago Midway rates. Milwaukee is a little shorter drive, no traffic, cheaper car rental.

I received his letter and also a short phone call from him on Saturday! Talk about 1,000,000 lbs being lifted from my shoulders just from hearing his voice!

Comment by Lanora on March 16, 2015 at 10:39pm: Navy Wife- someone had commented that SHIP 13 DIV 161 and 162 would have most of the same information available. My son is in SHIP 13 DIV 162. This site has been a Godsend for me!
