~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Those moving over to GL A School will do that shortly after PIR and it takes several hours.  You can plan to pick them up on that base around 2 or 3 pm.....they will call you, probably on a borrowed cell phone.  They can return that night with their own phone.

naveylovem:  Sorry, just got this now.  I think if you did this, you probably saw that you can only turn around in one area.  Enjoy PIR!

Congrats to all of your sailors!

Diannep, if I drive, what road would I be making the U-turn on?

Comment by navylovem on May 1, 2014 at 9:46pm

Thanks for your responses. I forgot to mention though, my sailor has A school in GL as well. So I don't know if I would be able to drive there and wait for him. Or if would take too long and I should just take the shuttle there and then wait at the hotel until he's ready.

Comment by CatMom509 on May 1, 2014 at 7:20pm

navylovem,

I had rented a car, but opted to leave it at the hotel and take Sarge's shuttle to PIR.  It was very convenient as he picked us up right at 6:30 am (make sure you are getting into a Sarge shuttle--ask!!)   Dropped us off at a gate that was only 50 yards from the graduation hall entrance.  After PIR, all the shuttles are in the lot to the right of the NEX.  Look for Sarge on the side of the shuttle.  Have Sarge's number handy in your cell phone to make sure you get a Sarge shuttle to go back to your hotel.  847-212-0246  $3 per person each way.  You can sign up for his shuttle at the Meet & Greet or if you can't make that, give him a call at the above number to get on the schedule~~
