Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 173 and 174.

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Yay! A place for 173/174 brother divisions. Thanks FTLW for posting. Looking forward to chatting with all of you. And God Bless "all" of our children at Great Lakes. I live in Yorktown Va (close to Norfolk... The Navy capital haha. I have a son in training. Would love to hear from son or daughter mom's. I was a sailor myself (USCG) almost 30 yrs ago. Keep smiling...it's a great thing, even though we miss them like "crazy."
Holly

Hello to all. I am a grandmother of a new SR in this unit. I look forward to meeting the other wives and mother's of the seamen who are training to become sailors. Thank you all.

my grandson is div 173 and last I talked to his wife he had not called

Hi my son is in division 173. Nice to meet you all.

Has anybody got their 2 week calls yet?

My son is in Division 173.  So far I received three calls.  Great to hear his voice, hard at the same time!

Hi ladies.  My daughter is in div 174.  I received the letter last Friday night and have not received a phone call since first night, 3/6.  I really miss her and can't wait to talk to her.  I hope she is making friends.  We live in Coral Springs, Florida (suburb of Fort Lauderdale).  I wonder how she is doing in the cold weather up there.  Are any of your sons/daughters staying up there for A school?  My daughter is.

Hi irene, i have not rcvd a call yet either. I just hope our kids have gotten their mail by now. Theres just no way of knowing.
Hello GG (Granny Gurt), welcome. And rachel and irene. I have not received a call. I mistakenly saw the 847 area code in my recent calls, and thought my son called but it had been a call that I made for a hotel reservation. Darn. We should hear soon.
Hello my husband is in 173...got the letter last week, no phone call yet. We live in wichita, ks and are counting down the days till graduation.. and i look forward to meeting some new people.
Good morning all, out in Central California here. My son is in Div 174, got the form letter last Friday. Was wondering if any other 174's that have received the form letter also had a guest list that only stated 3 guests? I noticed that in the title of this discussion it says 4 guests permitted, but line 4 on our letter was crossed out in black Sharpie. A bit of a bummer, but also confusing because I haven't seen anyone else mention the change. Maybe it was last minute and it hasn't made on here yet. I'd appreciate any clarification if any of our veteran moms know about this. Thank you and blessings to ALL of our wonderful Navy families and each SR. ~Cate

Hi Holly, Rachel, GG, Cate and Navywife.  I hope you all are good today.  I received the letter last Friday night with four names on it.  I hurried up and mailed her a calling card that night.  I still haven't heard from her.  Have any of you received phone calls?  We booked our flights this week and will be staying at the Ramada.  Are any of you going to the meet and greet?  I know she is in good hands but I still miss her.

No phone call or letter yet. still sleeping with phone and stocking the maillady. We booked out flight and are staying at the Navy Lodge and yes going to meet and greet. was just reading new family policy and really hope he passes because i couldn't afford the $1200 each for refundable tickets. I know how you feel i miss him and hope they are all well.
