~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Good afternoon!!  Usually Mondays are not favorite days around here, but today, yes they are!  Had to share this - on my way home from running errands today, I cross over the reservoir that supplies this area with drinking water.  Usually we see different wildlife because the area is off limits to the public.  We have seen anything from deer, wild turkey, fox, etc.  Well today as I drove over the bridge, there was a huge bird perched on one of the telephone poles.  I drove past three times just to confirm what I was indeed seeing - an eagle!!  I did confirm that there is apparently a nest within the reservoir.  Just thought I would share because it just seemed so appropriate! : )

Mike'sMom,

The Photo store is directly to the left of the NEX behind the double glass doors.  It's where you can see the proofs of your Sailor's pics (1 smiling, 1 serious) in the room directly to the left.  So you could order more photos if you Sailor didn't order enough or any at all.  There is a window directly up front and another room to the right.  One is for pick up of photos and the other is paying for photos, not sure which is which.  You could also order the PIR dvd and Keel (yearbook) here.

The time for you ladies to leave for PIR will be here before you know it, so I just want to encourage you all to stay with NavyforMoms!!  There will be groups for the A schools and C schools, state groups and regional groups, groups for moms with daughters, groups for each rating (job specialty), and a group called Christian Chat with 800+ members started by EV.  This group will also turn into an alumni group, so please come back here to update on what you and your Sailor are doing!!  It's really nice to keep in touch with others whose sons or daughters have graduated the same time~~

AngieW,

Sarge will always have a shuttle ready there in the lot to the right of the NEX.  Just make sure you see Sarge's on the side.  You could always just have his phone number handy too.  Call him to make sure one of his shuttle's is there just in case because there will be other taxis there trying to get your business (and charge you more).  Sarge is only $3 each way.   His cell # is 847-212-0246.  You should probably program it into your cell for quick access.  He is a wonderful person and his crew is too.  Don't forget to tip them if you can~~

All - what is the photo store?
Comment by AngieW (12/168) on April 28, 2013 at 3:57pm

OK, I have a question for our veteran Moms.  We are getting a rental car but would like to take a shuttle to PIR to avoid traffic.  Does anyone know if Sarges shuttle will come back to pick you up after PIR if you have spent a few minutes with your Sailor and visited the photo store?  My Sailor is staying in GL but I know there will only be a short visit before he goes to check in to his A School.  I don't want to be there for 3 or 4 hours just waiting.  Any advice?
