OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I am sure everyone will think I am not with the program (and it is true) but I don't know what A school is and how do I know if my son is in it?

Comment by diannep on April 3, 2013 at 8:26pm

What do you mean, free on Memorial Day, my3rd child?

Comment by my3rdchild on April 3, 2013 at 8:24pm

My son left (lives in Ohio) on the 26th. Received box and letter 2 days ago. I didn't know they were free on Memorial Day until after I made hotel reservations so off I go onto the hotel web site again!

Love seeing so much activity on this group already!  YAH!

Welcome to all of you!

I am another N4Moms veteran here to help along with ellen, FTLW, Lala, and Betsy (others will drop in now and then too!).  Please be sure to look under the MEMBERS box above on this page and checkout the PAGES section below it for lots of info there.  More info will be posted as bootcamp goes on.

In the meantime, please feel free to ask any and all questions you have on here!  We are here to help!

For anyone with SRs (Seaman Recruit...what your future sailor is right now!) in a "push" division.  No worries...they have a little less time to get all done, but they always do!

hello everyone my fiance left on the 27th. I received his box yesterday it was extremely emotional for me. but I haven't received his form letter yet hoping it comes soon. I am really hoping his PIR is the 24th as that is my birthday and it would be really lovely to spend it with him.
