N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

For anyone asking about Ship 14 and Div 197, I got a letter yesterday and my son stated that starting this week they would be doing 20 hour days and getting ready for all kinds of stuff and may not write or call much. Seemed fine but that they were all very busy and very tired.........Thx.....

diannep,I am a little confused as usual. How do you know that those staying in GL will be off thru Monday? My son does not seem to know this yet. Do you think he will be free thru Monday? I do want to plan accordingly as well but may get tricky as my daughter is going with me and she has to be back no later than Sunday morning..........We are not that far,5 hours so maybe I can fly her home and just drive by myself. Wish I knew with holiday so I could book flight. I got a letter from him yesterday and he did not have any info yet as to how much time he has.........Help,you are my answer gal................Thx........

The GL A School students will have daytime liberty through Memorial Day, so plan accordingly.

For those flying out...it is a toss up.  It is possible that they may fly out on Saturday or Sunday....doubtful for Monday.  So try and stay through Sunday just in case.  Sometimes on holiday 3-day weekends, it is hard for them to get the Saturday flights for all....which is a good thing for you all as you would then get an extra day with your new sailors!  If they do leave on Saturday, you can do some sightseeing.

My son said he will have the weekend to spend with us! So we decided to drive the whole family out instead of just my husband and I flying!

Colleen,my son is now going to be a gunner mate........Not exactly sure but he will learn how to use and train on weapons I believe. He was going on a submarine but that got cancelled when they found out he had a kidney stone in the past. I was relieved myself. I wonder if they will get time off with the holiday or even thru Sunday now........Dying to know...........
