Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hello all,
Got the final call until week 7 from my first born last night. He sounded really excited. He informed me that his division received a flag. Could someone please tell me a little more information on the Sarges meet and greet. Thanks.. Only 29 more days to go

HI Mike803 regarding pay my husband was told the 1st and 15th of every month by recruiters, he left 3/27 and they told us on 4/15 he would get paid, wrong he learned while in Boot camp he must be there a full 3wks in order to get paid so my husbands pay should come in on 5/1, hope that helps!

Diannep, Thanks for the info. Since they got to boot camp on April 2nd, do you know if they would have been paid on the15th or are they getting paid for the first time on May 1st? Just want to make sure his pay does not get messed up. Thanks also for the A school site info.

As far as pay, they are paid the 1st and 15th of the month. If with Navy Fed, they are paid a day earlier.

Colleen: He will have daytime liberty through the weekend if staying in GL. YAH! They can usually leave base around 6 or 7 a.m. and have to be back around 9 or 10 pm. Lots of time to explore. Nice that he will have family nearby too....because once he phases up and can leave base, he may want to visit with them!
Mike: Yes, he will need to "phase up" first before leaving base (usually takes 2-3 weeks) but then they can enjoy the city! They leave the base on the "buddy system" and must return with that same buddy...which almost got my son in trouble when at A School since his buddy "took off" and didn't meet up with my son/others when he was supposed to. He finally showed up just in the nick of time, so no one ever got in trouble, but my son never left base with this particular sailor as "his buddy" again! Wheeew! Are you on the Master at Arms A School group on this site? Those on there can give you lots more info specific to your son's future base.

mike803 my SR is staying in GL for A school and his recruiter said that he will have liberty and be able to see Chicago. We have family in the area so it will make being so far away a little easier.
