Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

My sailor was in the first group for BS21,the first division number of the PIR and the last to fly out, flew out of Sunday. Some flew out to Pensacola on Saturday and some flew out on Sunday, you never know. We planned and stayed until Monday just encase and we did get an extra day with our new sailor. If you can stay until Sunday night.

Comment by jaime30024 SHIP 02 DIV 930 on May 7, 2013 at 1:01pm: Baciandro it would be interesting to know how they 'ship them out' LOL...but that may be like "how many licks to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop" The world may never know!!!! Haha. Seriously though I am not flying out until Sunday to be on the safe side. It would be nice to have that extra day. Especially since 930 will likely not get liberty until later (since they have to clean up and everything before Liberty).

Comment by Baciandrio on May 7, 2013 at 12:49pm: Reply to Janet and Lisaz I'm taking his statement with a grain of salt at this point, LOL Because the needs of the Navy and all and so far nothing that has happened in Div 930 has gone according to the 'norm'. My understanding is that shipping out is by division, starting with the lower numbers. Being 930, they're at the end of the list which may be why he believe or has been told that it's Sunday. They may just group the Nukes together and fly them out together or they could end up going in smaller groups. I knew there were other Nukes in the overall graduating group, I have yet to ask our SR is he's run into any of them. There's just not enough pen and ink or minutes on a call to get down to the nitty gritty.

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on May 7, 2013 at 1:43am: When you are signed in 24/7 (doesn't mean you are on here all day just that you can choose it from your history and still be signed in or create a bookmark)you can also then access the site from your emails with the link, if you are checking the site through your email. If you are not signed in then you can't access through your email.

If you are getting to many emails but still would like to receive some from some of your groups, each group has a "follow/stop following" feature. It is right below the Comment Wall Reply box.

So email access doesn't have to be an all or nothing. You can have it on and choose which groups.

To change any of your Settings on here the Settings feature is in the status box at the top far right column.
