Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on May 7, 2013 at 1:42am: The iPad and phones are limited on the site. It's the browser on the iPad.

My droid does not have the toolbar either but sometimes I can just copy and paste a picture. That is an easier way to do it, copy and paste it right in BUT sometimes it doesn't work OR the picture disappears after awhile. So I do the long way with the computer.

Believe it or not though, I can start a new Group and get the browse feature when I do and have the group up and running all from my phone.

When I view the site from my phone I stay signed in 24/7 and view it in desktop version rather than mobile. The mobile is to limited for me and the desktop looks and acts (for the most part) just like I am on a Computer.

-First load the picture to your "Pictures" library on your Computer.

-Then, in the Comment Wall Reply box you will see the toolbar at the top.

-The second icon over is the "Image" icon (hold your cursor over it for a second and the word "Image" should appear), click it.

-The "Add Image" box should appear. It will automatically be on the load "From my Computer" tab. FILE will be the highlighted first step.

-Click "Browse"

-Your "Pictures" Library should come up in a new box. If it does not (sometimes I get my documents library) click it on the left.

-Once you are in your Pictures Library, find your picture. Click it. Then click the "Open" button. It will load it to the "Add Image" box on N4M's

-Now, you can change the "Layout" (I would leave it at Full)

-Don't bother with Padding or Link.

-Width - If this is at 500 Pixels or above it is going to be HUGE...so change it to 450 and below.

-Click "OK"

Your picture should now load into the Reply box. You can add text to it still if you like or just "Add Comment.

Comment by Lisazship2DIV928 on May 6, 2013 at 10:19pm: I went shopping today to buy something for my daughter for PIR she loves bracelets so we put one together for her I know she won't be able to wear it in her uniform but that's ok I just have to add one more charm on the end and its a dolphin my friend bought that one for her so imma give it to her separate then she can put it on I uploaded a pic of it but I don't know how to post it up here so everyone can tell me what they think ?
