N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

Thanks diannep good advice I forgot about Skype

Lisaz:  Remind her in your letters that once she is out of bootcamp, she will be able to stay in touch with family/friends again--you can give her cell phone and computer to her at the airport or after she has Liberty if staying in GL.  That makes a huge difference!  Many SKYPE on the computer, or Facetime, text, email, and of course, call.  Just keep encouraging her!

The SRs/sailors won't know their flight arrangements until PIR week.

baciandrio I hope so she was going by rumors I told her to try to find out I'm happy that you will have the weekend with your son:)

Baciandrio --- thanks for the update ... My son is also a Nuke and I have not heard about his travel arrangements after PIR. Obviously they may not be the same, but it helps to know it is a possibility.

Reply to Lisaz  The amount of liberty is dependent on each recruit, where they're heading off to and what division they're in.  Mine is leaving for Nuke school in SC....originally we thought we'd only get Friday with him but he's happily advised us that he doesn't leave until Sunday.  And I'm definitely delighted.  Hopefully she'll be able to firm that up for you in the very near future.

Received a very brief call from our SR, as yeoman for the division he's putting in some late hours and has been only getting 3 or less hours of sleep a night.  A little concerned about that but he is in good spirits, just counting the days until we're all together.  Here's hoping that maybe tomorrow I'll finally get the PIR form and a personal letter (it'll be our first....Div 930 has no time to write!).

One more note my daughter told me that everyone was talking about only having PIR day to spend with family I told her that doesn't sound right she's in GL for a week then goes to VA so from what I read we will get sat and sun together but I'm not so sure but she was sure worried about it

Got a call a few minutes ago my daughter was very emotional and it breaks my heart she's doing we'll but very homesick she cried most of the call saying how much she wants to be home and can't live without her family I told her she's almost halfway and I can't wait to see her at graduation that's she's doing an awesome job to hang in there I hope she isn't giving up I think those are all normal emotions but I'm worried she is so homesick maybe all this is normal but it really sucks she also said please keep the letters coming I think that they comfort her a lot so off to write her:(

I hope everyone had a good weekend :) Sorry I was MIA, My bestfriend/sister-in-law is battling breast cancer and just had a double mastectomy last Monday. The tests from the lymph nodes were good :) Now just waiting to hear when she will start chemo. My niece is raising money and walking in Relay for Life this coming Friday night so I have been making stickers for her to sell to raise more money and ribbons for all 45 people on Team Deb to wear. Please keep her and and all the others who are fighting this terrible disease in your thoughts and prayers. We really appreciate it :)
