N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

And of course, our recruits, most importantly!!

Hi Deedee....I am so happy that your son was able to get back into training after being in SEPS.  My son was hurt in his 4th week, sent home, and they finally let him come back, after a year and a half.  May these remaining weeks go smooth for us and all the other NAVY moms on here.

Wow! Such great info tonight!  Thanks everyone.  This is beginning to make more sense.  Im sure by the time I completely get it, it will be PIR time! haha! RayaEdgar's mom....if its any consolation, im sure my SR will be getting his wisdom teeth pulled as well.  He didn't want his pulled at home because the recruiter told him that he would have to get it cleared & it might delay him in leaving for BC.  My cousin's son just graduated from Marines & had his pulled during BC & he said it really wasn't that big of a deal.  Hope that brings a little comfort to you :)

Having wisdom teeth taken out will not set them back. They will have 3 days SIQ and LLD and then back to the BC grind. It is very common for the recruits to have them taken out, so he will probably be one of several in his division.

Thank you Lori I will look into that.

I read that if they have to get their wisdom teeth out they have a few days to recover and they don't have to make it up. I think I saw that info in the boot camp for moms group in one of the links about what happens when they arrive.

No I have not talked to him since Saturday... but I know he needs them out..the dentist told us they needed to come out.. I tried to get him to get them out before he left but he didn't do it. I am just worried that if they do pull them... that it will set him back.

RayaEdgar'smom:

Did you hear from your son letting you know that he needs them out?

Comment by RayaProudNavyMom on May 1, 2013 at 11:56pm

Question to whom ever is able to answer... My son needs to get two of his wisdom teeth pulled, if they pull them out. Will this set him back in anyway????? this is something that is concerning me at this point. I tried to get him to get them pulled before he went in but he decided not too.... His PIR date of 6/14.. please anyone....I thank you very much

Yeah, I bet that doesn't happen....I had been hoping that my son hadn't been in P-hold. If he wasn't he would already be on day 3 of training, so I bet he's been on hold too :(

I am in need of some patience...I'm so ready to hear from him and know where he is in the process!!
