N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Not to be a bother, but, one more question? :)  You mention that it isn't necessary that 227/228 be on the same training day as Divisions 225/226, but would it be possible that 227/228 be ahead of 225/226 in their training?

Here's a post I did on the "counting.of days" at BC.

Boot Camp Days ~ How to Count them...
Boot Camp is anywhere from 7.5 to 9 weeks (longer around Holiday time in Nov to Jan), actual weeks of time there.

The below is all generic and based on an "ideal" scenario of 8 weeks.

"Week1" is "P" Processing days...usually about 5 days could be longer.
"Weeks 2-7" are Training Weeks. (There are 6 Training weeks)
"Week 8" is the final week and PIR. P days are counted P1, P2, P3 etc. up to 5. After 5 I believe they then says "P" Hold...but that is one I have not been able to confirm yet.

Days of Training (DOT) are counted W1D1...Week1 Day1. W2D1 is Week2 Day1.
Weeks are counted up to 6.
Days are counted up to 5.
Thus the last DOT is W6D5.

Here is an exemplar based on a recruit whose W1D1 day is on a Wednesday. (I'm not starting with P days since they can vary)
W - W1D1
Th - W1D2
F - W1D3
Saturday and Sunday do not count in the counting of "P" or DOT days. These are "hold" days.
M - W1D4
T - W1D5
W - W2D1
So, their Day 1 will always be on the same day... ...except if there is a Federal Holiday. Then, it pushes it forward a Day. So,...the above SR has Day3 on Friday...Monday is a Federal Holiday...it is treated like a Sunday. Now, T is Day 4 instead of M...and you start counting from there again. W - Day5 Th - Day1.

When you write your recruit...ask them to write the actual date and the DOT next to it if you would like to try and keep track of where they are :-)

Thanks for posting the Push division info. :-)

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on May 1, 2013 at 10:55pm

Okay, there are 6 actual weeks of Training. The other days that they are there consist of P-Days (Processing Days) and "leftover" days, after the six weeks and BST-21 (Battlestations) is completed.

P days take 5 days. If there are not enough recruits to fill the division they still start P days. As more come in they start theirs. So lets say the ones that are already there are on P day S and the rest are on P day 1. When the first batch there finishes P Day 5 they still have to wait until the rest within the Division finish P days. So any extra days for them are called P Hold.

Divisions 225/226 are Brother Divisions and would train together and so be on the same Training days. It is very possible for 227/228 to be on the same training day as 225/226. But not necessarily. :-)

Bella:

It was posted in a different group (Those with Recruits Departing in
April) I've copied it here:

A Push Division is a division in which some recruits who arrive in one week are held in P-days until more recruits who arrive in the next week finish P-days to fill the division. The recruits arriving the second week are pushed forward a week and are at the RTC 7 1/2 weeks rather than the typical 8 1/2 weeks that others in the division are or that others who arrived on the same day will be. The Push Divisions are also usually the last divisions in the TG and will be among the last to go through BST, so they will make the “I’m a Sailor!” call only a day or two before PIR, which means there is less opportunity to redo something (like a failed run, which can only be run every other day), so the RDCs also push this group to be ready to be US Navy Sailors on time and the first time. The actual training time for all divisions in 6 weeks so they have plenty of time to learn everything they need to learn to have PIR on time.

So, if Div 226 has been on P-hold all this time, does that mean that the divisions formed after 226 (227 and 228) are likely to be on hold? I'm thinking logistically, if my son is in Div 228 he most likely arrived at GL later than those in earlier Divisions and would therefore be "behind" them in training. Does anyone know if that is how it works?

Here is the link to Sarge's MeetandGreet page where you can get info and RSVP:

http://www.navyformoms.com/events/pir-06-14-2013-sarge-s-meet-and-g...

oneproudmom:  Is your sailor flying out for A School?  If so, and you want to visit in the airport with your sailor, you could use Sarge's shuttle service to the airport/back so you don't have to drive (they fly from the Chicago airports).  If you share one of his cabs with other families here, it saves you both money!

This PIR group is the same size (same number of divisions) that my son's PIR group was.  It was a nice size...not too big, not too small.  Lots of people!
