juliebelle28 - I will try funnies - however with the dog thing, we moved a year ago, and our apt does not allow animals, and we had to give our dog away - was the sadess day of his life-- we miss her SOO much, I see all talking about their animals missing their recruit, and she really would have!! I received letter from him yesterday, and he was a little down, says he is one of the youngest ones their and wondered if he jumped into this to fast. He turned 19 on Mothers day.
It is getting hard to write everyday - I am running out of things to say. I write everyday, and the last couple days, I have sent cards. He keeps saying he wants letters - he is not a sports person, and he and I are not REAL close, as he says I worry to much, which is true. All he ever talked about was Navy this and Navy that....
Now I am off to take my Mom to the doctor and then shopping for fabric :-) I'll Be back this afternoon. Have a happy morning :-)
librarymom: Not all snacks are thrown away...sometimes the RDCs EAT them! Happened when a mysterious care package (never found out the sender's name) arrived for my son when he was there during Christmas time. He opened it in front of them, after being grilled on who sent it (no name on the package). He saw the RDCs enjoying the snacks later. Got a good laugh over that one!
Good morning all!
So true FTLW, I learned so much info about my Sailors rate and A-school from this site. I knew more about her rate when she finished boot camp than she did. Even now she will sometimes say ask your Navy Mom friends...... lol It is never too late to find this site and get the support you need :-)
Well I am on here this morning but only because I am using my hubby's laptop. Yesterday I went to Navy for Dads site and then something happened on my computer and it said my computer could not access that site. Then I went to Navy for Moms and got the same message. It says Unable to access the Network, then something about my firewall. But I can access all other websites with no problem at all. I have tried turning off the computer and it still doesn't work. I sent a message to my Sailor and her Hubby/Sailor. He is an IT so maybe he has an idea how to fix it. uggggg
So glad I could add one litte bit to the information here. This forum has been unbelievably helpful. Thank you all for your generosity in sharing and willingness to help. Talking to my SR yesterday I was reminded about why one doesn't send packages. They have to be opened in front of everyone and all snacks are thrown away !
TY librarymom!
If I remember corrrectly. I think the lady at the bank filled out a form for my son to take with him. Since our bank is right across the street from the Recruiters she was very familiar with setting up accounts for the military!
Your post prompted me to look at my Deposit slips in my checkbook and the routing numbers are different from the routing numbers on the checks! (I never use those for deposits...so had not noticed). In tiny, tiny writing...just above those numbers it says:" DO NOT USE DEPOSIT TICKET ROUTING # FOR AUTOMATIC PAYMENTS. USE VOIDED CHECK"
Who knew?!!
Thank You again and I will make sure that JessicaB Sailor mom knows this as she posts a lot on the DEP groups on advice for before Boot CAmp and what to take.
Passing this on to those of you who help out other groups.... I thought I had all the bases covered - I sent deposit slips with my SR's acct number..... They needed the bank routing number too. My SR had to join the Navy Bank which isn't bad and can be changed. Just info I am passing along that maybe can help others. I had missed a call the 2nd week my SR was at BC. Yesterday, I got my first phone call. The other one was to ask about the routing number. I was driving and wouldn't have had access to that info even if I had answered
Sorry I wasn’t on much either…again! I am trying to get the next PIR group started so my focus shifts a bit during this time…and well…it’s the Stanley Cup Finals!
Hubby worked Monday night so we taped it and watched last night…and Game 4 was tonight. BUMMER… the Kings lost…but they are up 3-1! Woo-Hoo! Has been a great Finals so far! My hubby used to play Hockey (which is funny for a Glendale kid! I mean Hockey was around but not a So Cal thing! He also played some as an adult.), and got me hooked when The Great One (Wayne Gretzky) came to LA! So I have been glued to the TV with him…and I will be Saturday night too for Game 5!
I am catching up!
