Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

Comment by Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor on June 6, 2012 at 2:42pm: Hoss, you could try Priceline for a rental car. I have actually put in, that I wanted to pay, $11 a day and they have accepted that. My day for mail when my son was in BC was on Thurs., so I agree with juliebelle, it's not dumb.

Getting my "to do for PIR" list started so I can just add to it, as I think of things each day. Air fare and rooms booked and still need to reserve a car. Gotta get ribbons ordered - what is the deadline for this for PIR 7/6? Anyone? Asked our son about the photo's/DVD for PIR as I guess they order this. Bummer as we missed his call last week, but able to hear the messages over if want to understand all he said, it is nice. Got our 2nd letter last Thurs even with the Holiday that Monday, so excited to check the mail tomorrow! Dumb I know, but it is exciting! Hope everyone is getting contacted, the waiting with no contact is SO hard!!! Lucky to keep busy, makes it easier. I has been really nice to meet some of you on this forum, and will be nice to faces to names if we meet at PIR. Anyone staying at the Red Carpet Inn?

Hope all is well, its Wednesday and i'm hoping to get another letter. They seem to come on wed, since they write on Sunday. I don't send colored envelopes. Justin said his RDC yells alot so i don't want to call attention to him...lol
