Beener:  Dress at PIR is "mixed."  Casual to very dressy. Remember, your sailors will be in their finest, so keep that in mind.  We suggest "business casual" which can include nice jeans.  But it is to you what you want to wear...there are no actual guidelines.  Remember that is is bleacher seating and there is a good amount of walking, so comfortable shoes!

katyellen - my son is in ship 03 Div 208 also and I got 2 letters from him on Thursday.  He didn't say anything about a paycheck but I am sure he got one also if your son did (at least I sure hope he did)!  That is so awesome.  I was thinking they would not give out paychecks during boot camp but I am so glad they do.  It has got to besuch a great feeling for the SR's to receive some compensation for all the hard work, dedication and sheer willpower they are putting forth right now in BC.

I am writing my SR a big long letter now and also preparing some letters for this week since we are moving tomorrow so I imagine my time will be limited to sit down and write. :-)

Misskatieb- I have sent waaaaaaaay more than 37 in 23 days.... My SR loves them! I send him all kinds of stuff!

My SR has been gone for 22 days as of today and I've sent 37 letters. One of his family members told me that this was excessive and really weird when really I've been writing him just like once a day.. Only the first week I wrote him twice a day.. Is this weird like they said? Do you think he would appreciate it or find it annoying? Help!!

Hey ladies! If you have not heard from your SR... hang in there! Letters and phone calls are coming! They probably want to call you or write you more than you think they do. You are their connection to the outside world. Keep pushing thru for them. We are almost at the half way point!!!

Tylersmom-same here...positive thoughts and hoping your son is ok.

No phone call for us yet. We finally just started getting mail yesterday. I cannot describe the looks on the faces of the other patrons in the post office when I opened my box and began to cheer and jump up and down...it was priceless! My son wrote seperate letters to our whole family including his grandparents and says he is great! I was prepared for him to sound a little down but his tone was so positive. As an added bonus today we got our questionnaire back. I now know the names of my SRs bunk mate and friends. He speaks so highly of this division I cannot wait to meet the other SRs and families who are sharing this journey.

Same here Tylersmom...I will send positive thoughts your way.  I sure hope he is fine and he gets to continue this amazing journey he is on.

I'm so glad you got to talk to him though.  Still no phone call here, we are what??? almost 4 weeks?  I hope he calls soon; and I didn't get a letter this week...wahhh...he's making his mother anxious...LOL.  It's fine, I'm sure I'll hear something soon.  Good night all!
