Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

I've sent him numerouse letters and i'm starting to feel alittle down. I know i shouldn't. I know he will call or write sooner or later but it's really hard. Probably because i a alone. All i want is to hear him say he is ok. You know its hard not to worry about your kid even when they are young men or women. Been through this 3 other times. This is the hardest. (my other 3 just moved out and had their own places). Ok, i just wanted to vent. thanks all. have a great day.

Today I am hoping that my SR gets his first letters from me and his girlfriend..hoping that these letters bring him happiness and strength to go on and do the best he can. And most of all, hope he writes me right back and I get a letter this week. ;-) Hope you all had a good weekend...May is flying by!

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on May 19, 2012 at 9:01pm: We are having a pretty exciting evening in our house :-D My 18 yr old son has been training for several weeks with the fire department on how to put out fires in cars or in car crashes. Tonight he is working as a volunteer for the Pit Crew for Denny Hamlin in tonight's all star race. So whenever Denny Hamlin comes into pit road we will likely see him. And in case there is a fire he is ready. He is super excited as you can imagine. What a fun and exciting adventure for our future Sailor :-)

Comment by Twinsmom on May 19, 2012 at 12:25pm: When my first son went, he was on P-hold days the whole first week and P-days the next, so when he got to call me if was only Week 2 for him, but it was his 4th week being there. He said he'd get to call again in 2 more weeks, but it was almost 3 weeks (this past Monday) but we got to talk for 20 mins! So waiting patiently to hear from son #2 who left on 5/8...so YES, phones with you at all times, and keep sending them encouragement!

He was ready when he left, he'd been training physically for months (his goal is SWCC)...but I am sooo looking forward to that phone call. Phones handy? YESSS!!
