OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Just got a call from our SR. Ship 12, Div 258. He is doing well. Just really, really tired. He got my letter with some pics of the family. He said he loved the letter  because things are getting a bit stressful. He passed everything but the mile run, missed it by 5 seconds, but says he isn't worried. Passed his swim test, so he's grateful.  He has a big test on Tuesday.  Was not expecting a call at all. So happy!

Woohoo Just got off the phone with my SR div 258. He's doing good. Said that he only had one infraction at inspection (belt buckle). He said his div had gotten in trouble So No letters sent out yet. But he is writing. He asked if I would write more often as others are getting loads of mail. He didn't pass pt test but had gotten close on everything.

Just got a call from my SR. He's doing good. He's passed everything so far. Didn't sound quite as chipper as last weeks phone call but he still sounded good. Made my weekend!!

Another phone call from my fiancé! Gosh, it's so great to hear his voice-- two saturdays in a row! Now, still waiting on a letter...

Got a 10 minute phone call with my SR. He sounded good, but far away from the phone (ugh, long distance).  He said they were doing good, getting yelled at for little things, and he had his first inspection yesterday, and passed (: Now to wait until the next phone call/letter.  Whichever arrives first.

Ship 3 Div 262 - Hello all-  We received our first phone call today!  It was very good to hear from him.  His spirits were up and that was refreshing. They are in a push division, and are starting week 2 next week. He said that his division has not gotten mail yet but thought they might get mail today.  They also haven't been able to send any mail, but should be able to tomorrow.

They were told they would have an hour for phones, but the phone banks were over booked, so we had about 15 minutes before he had to go.

If you haven't received your phone calls yet, Keep your head up, it should be coming soon.   Stay strong and proud.

Thanks Ellen! I'm gonna see if I can fit it into a long size regular envelope first. :)

Roni - this was my second call, one last Saturday and the one today.

Sandi,

That's exactly my situation.  I read more into your sentence than I should have.  Just desperate to hear from him I guess!

You can send a large envelope if you want, they aren't a problem, or you can send a smallerish (is that a word :)) envelope more than once. As a heads up to your SR let your SR know that you will be sending one as it may have to be opened in front of an RDC, and you don't want them worrying as to what may be in the envelope.

Make sure you put enough postage on the envelope to send it home.
