Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I have not received a letter at all other than the first form letter. He called last Sat and said they could write letters the next day so I was hoping to get one today.

I wonder if the ones that got to call today, didn't get a chance to call last weekend (which is when I received a phone call)
Has any one received two calls in total so far?

Sandi, My son is also in ship 12 Div 258. No calls today but wondered if you have received mail from your SR already. I'm still waiting for my first letter from him. I wondered the way you worded your post if you have already received one but just not today.

Sandi my daughter is in a different div but ahe dis mention that a lot of div were being allowed calls and people still haven't made calls yet.

For the Manila envelopes, I know you fold them and send them in a card envelope. Is there a certain size card envelope allowed? Or can I send a huge one?

I see that several people received phone calls today from their SR. Were any of them from ship 12 div 258? I was hoping for a phone call today especially since I didn't get a letter today:(

Phone call today! (Div 260) Early afternoon (while I was at an East TN Moms meet and greet!). He sounded better than last time. Looking forward to PT this afternoon... he wasn't sure exactly what it was but mentioned different stations; pushups, pull-ups, sprints and others. Passed his swim test (but though he was going to drown in the process!) and PT test. Not sure about their first computer test, though, and doesn't know the results yet(?)... says there wasn't much of what he was told to study by the recruiters!
He says he's not eating healthy! Pretty much eating cereal for most meals. He says the food is not very good but he is rather spoiled as I cook well and my husband is a chef.
Sleeping better but fells like its time to wake up right after he's fallen asleep. :) Got a compliment from his RDC that his rack looked good (not an official inspection).

For those of you with SRs that are having a hard time passing the PFA. They are tested three times and the third time is the one that matters. Even if they are having difficulty passing the third time (which is approx two weeks before BS) they still are given the opportunity and all the available help to pass it.
Believe it or not the RDCs do want them to succeed and they will push them to do so. Keep encouraging them, let them know they are strong and can do this.

I got my call from my SR she sounded so sad. She said ahw was ok but really missing home. She sais ahe wants to come home (broke my heart) didn't want hwr to hear me crying so I just kwpt asking questions. She passed her swimming sit ups and push ips but didn't pass the running. I told her to pray and stay positive that we know she can do this. She said she was ok staying to herself but they have a lot of studying. I only got like 6 minutes because she kept calling me and I sisnt hear hwr but I knew it was her she could hear me but I couldn't hear her. Everyone was home so it waa a wonderful treat ahe fot to talk quickly talk to her lil sis daddy grandma ans cousin so she was excited. Well ladies I am happy I was able to talk to her but so sad she is sad. But I did encourage her and told her she got this. Very important that they hear that from US. She also told me she did make a friend that didn't have a calling card and she gave One of hers because she was like I didn't want her to not talk to her mom ohhhhhh tears came down my sweet girl. Everyone enjoy the rest of the weekend :-)

We got a call from our son an few minutes ago. It was wonderfull! His voice sounded fresh and he said everything is good. It made our great weekend! Wish you all the same!
