~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Good morning!

I just talked with my hubby this morning (best wake up call ever!) and he said that they were talking about allowing phone calls tomorrow! He was allowed to call from a processor's office while he waited for some paperwork to be completed and faxed back for security clearance and A School. Thank goodness this processor seems to like him and has allowed him to call me!!!

Today they are on Week 1 Day 4. They were on P-Hold until Monday the 20th then the 20th - 24th were P-days. He said they aren't being yelled at too much, though his division (262) is a little talkative, but it hasn't gotten them in trouble yet. He said they were IT'd right after their PFAs because a few people had messed up the watch schedule paperwork between their division (262) and the brother division (261). They were sooo tired after that, but made it through! He was also surprised that there are hot showers there! Before he left, he was preparing himself for 2 months of cold showers. He said the showers were cold only for the first 2 days then they turned the hot water on. It's nice to know they have that small comfort. :)

Let's keep our fingers crossed for phone calls tomorrow!!!

Hi Bryler - thank you for the information on SW Airlines.  I'll check out prices today.

LacyShai85:  Your division is the last in training for this PIR group....263/264.  So....they are still we Training Week 1.  They will be starting Training Week 2 during next week.  There are 6 actual training weeks before they become sailors.  M-F are considered training days.  Weekends/holidays, they are on "hold" in training.  What CatMom said is so true....ask your SR to write the date on his/her next letter to you and put the training week/day number too. It should look like this:  1-5 (training week 1, day 5)

Good Morning!

LadyShai85,

The best way for you to keep track of your SR's schedule is to ask him to write the training week and day in the upper corner of the letters he sends you.  You can ask this in your next letter and in your next phone call from him.  The different divisions in a PIR group are on different training days.

@ Bryler: Thank you! That was really helpful information. :))

For anyone: I have a question....What week are we in? lol

Southwest flies into Chicago-Midway and Milwaukee...so check both places.  Milwaukee is only 45 minutes from GL.  Midway is about an hour drive.  No change fee is charged if you have to change your ticket for any reason.  If you have to cancel, you can use your ticket for up to a year.

Hi!

Just wondering if anyone has any idea how soon I should be getting the paperwork in the mail from my husband at boot camp about getting healthcare and the paperwork on how I can obtain my Military wife Id card. He's on ship 14 and in Div 264. If any has any idea about any of this any info is helpful! Thanks:)

Hey there! Just thought I'd share since everyone is going to be booking their plane tickets soon. Southwest has the cheapest options for flight changes and the first 2 checked bags are free!

Also, late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning are the best times to check flight prices. Tuesday afternoon all of the airlines put up their new prices and within hours the price drop competition starts. Generally, if you book in the middle of a month, you will have the best success at a deal. I have always taken advantage of this and it has never failed me.

Also, if you have already booked your ticket and find that the airline has a deal going on or prices are just lower than what you paid, call the company and ask for the lower price. Remind them you chose their airline over all of the others and they will usually drop it to the lower price. If you get a crabby representative, just try calling again a bit later.

I don't work for an airline, but one of my good friends does, so I get all of the airline tricks and secrets - and now I can share them with you guys!

Let me know if you have any questions!
