Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Smoke2010 (Ship 13 Div 269) - Mine was really thankful - and apologetic this week. He actually apologized for something he forgot to do for me 4 weeks ago before he left (and it wasn't even that big of the thing!!!)

Proud mom 2013 - From everything I've read on here, Sarge's is the best and most informative. Since, it looks like it would be difficult to attend more than one, I have chosen Sarge's.

Received a letter today he told me the name of the SR that is in the bunk next to him. Im not sure if the name is a first or lastname so im not going to put it on here. however if your son is on ship 13 div 269 pm me if you want to know if it is your son. He was very thankful in his letter this week. Said they all got haircuts. He walked me trough a typical day. Up at 0400 showered, shaved,and dressed, bunk made and standing at attention at 0500 and there are 77of them.dressed,bunk made and stanib

Pkg A is a good one for them to order ($140, I believe) because it is includes The Keel (yearbook) for free. If the pictures seem a bit pricey for you, some in previous groups have not purchased the pictures...they take their sailor to a local photographer in the area after PIR like Sears/JC Penny, etc and get photos taken there since they will be in their formal uniform.

On their formal/division pictures taken in bootcamp, they have the opportunity to order them. If they pay for them, they can mail them home if they want to (nice surprise right before PIR for you all!). Or they can pay for them and hold them in their ships until after PIR (what my son did). Or....they can order and pick up after PIR in the Photo Lab next to the NEX....pay then.

Got 2 Letters Today!!!! They have a PFA test and a written test coming up this week! They also found out how many weeks they will be at A School for their rating. Btw - my SR made friends with a Nick. Anyone out their with an SR named Nick? I have the last name. If so, pm me and I'll share it with you. (I think I can say this on here. If not, please correct me!)

Does anyone know anything about boot camp pictures? I would have guessed they would have been taken at about the half-way point IF they still do them. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!
