Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by Always "Incognito" on July 16, 2011 at 11:22pm: Lizzy, are you sure you pick him back up at his A school? I am not even sure if relatives are allowed on that base. The base where they have the A school at Great Lakes and where they have BC are two different bases (although somewhere they are connected I THINK, but families never get to be that far on the base) I am thinking even if he is checking into his A school that day that you still pick up and drop off at the BC base BUT if I were you, I would call Navy Affairs to be SURE you have that right. Or contact an administrator here, who can most likely tell you for sure.

That means they do have to leave fairly quickly to go to A school because they have to catch a flight. And I have also heard that some who stay at Great Lakes have to go "check in" to A school and it can take a few hours... then they can start their liberty. so I guess thats what is happening with your son? I am SORRY I am so brain dead that I couldnt piece that together.

Comment by Always "Incognito" on July 16, 2011 at 11:02pm: I tried to plug every variation of name into the GPS for the base and the address we had on our forms and maps and nothing worked last year........ Maybe the address below will work for you. But take a map just in case. Luckily my sailors best friend had just been to a PIR (for her boyfriend) a few months before and has a memory as sharp as a tack and she remembered how to get there from the Ramada. Thank God!
