~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

proudnavymom:  They will be in their formal sailor (Whites) uniform on PIR Day and for those flying out, they will have that uniform on as well.  For those staying in GL for A School, they can wear their khaki uniform during the weekend, but must wear their Whites on PIR day.

And, yes, they can return from Liberty with personal items when at GL A School since they move over there shortly after PIR....so once you pick your sailor up for Liberty that Friday, he/she can return that night to base with personal items.  The GL A School sailors have Liberty throughout the weekend (Daytime) so they can continue to return with personal items at night.

Civilian clothes cannot be warn at A School until they "phase up."  Takes a couple of weeks.

Debship13,
We made reservations for lunch at Lovell's also. Just hope we get to use them. Love the pizza idea.

We are staying at the Navy Lodge and I have stuff to decorate the door already. I also made reservations at Lovell's of Lake Forest so our SR can have a wonderful lunch. I'm wondering if there is a great pizza place nearby that will deliver to the Navy Lodge. If anyone knows of a place, please let me know. Thanks in advance. I'm thinking that he will wamt to get out of his dress whites and into civvie clothing in our room. I just want him to relax and if he falls asleep, I don't care lol I just want to sit there and look at him. I kinda feel silly ssying that but it's the truth. And I know that it will get easier as the weeks go by. So I'm taking it day by day and just breathing and keeping busy lol. I hope everyone had a great day. I'm off to work.

I got 3 letters from my SR yesterday!!!!! It was so unexpected that I started crying before I even read them!!!! He also wrote to his sister. That was wonderful cuz she has been having a really hard time with this. The 2 of them have always been thick as thieves. Neither one would rat out the other to myself or my husband lol His division is having a few problems with a few mouthy ones. They've already suffered some IT cuz of it. One day it was twice!!!! And he's got a job in his division. He's one of the assistants to the laundry PO :) I kinda laughed at that but he's been doing his own laundry for quite a few years now so no biggie. They have lost 3 already and he got there on the 10th. I have so many more questions for him so I'll be writing more letters to him and get them sent out before this weekend.

I just want to thank all the veteran moms/wives on here. We couldn't do it without you. And for the rest of us going to PIR on 8/1.....ladies, we ARE part of the Navt family too and we can and will be Navy Strong for our SRs!!!! HOOYAH!!!!! Navy is the best!!!!!

I thought when they were in great lakes and not returning to rtc they could have personal items? I am confused because someone posted they must remain in uniform or pt attire. I thought that was only Friday if they were returning to rtc and not across the street? Please help this is all so confusing.

The most important part of your attire for PIR Day is comfortable walking shoes!  There will be some walking done that day!

Good Morning All !

On reporting back from Liberty, believe me, your sailors will be well versed in being back on time.  They will also know the rules while on Liberty...which include no consumption of alcohol and no use of nicotine products.  There will be "eyes" watching in the community and they can be reported for violation.  Remember, your new sailors will be in uniform constantly during PIR weekend, so they are pretty easy to spot for the "higher ups" who also will be milling about in the area that weekend.  My son was petrified to be late back to base....was even willing to sacrifice dinner (we showed up at a restaurant that was closed down....thanks to my older son's GPS!)....he did NOT want to be late, knew the consequences of that.

So follow your sailor's lead.  They know what they are supposed to do!

A restaurant to check into to celebrate your sailor up there is Lovell's.....owned by the astronaut, Jim Lovell.  It is a bit pricey, but I believe your sailor eats for free.  We have had great reports from those who ate there!
