I have labeled the buildings in Red, you might not be able to read the far left one, it says EAT/NEX. There is a Taco Bell/McDonalds/Pizza Hut in there to have lunch with your Sailor. The green line is how you come into RTC with your vehicle. You enter the parking garage from the back, park and walk through the garage, through the museum and wait to enter the drill hall. If the garage is filled up, you would turn left instead and there is a parking lot there, then you can make your way to the museum entrance. The blue line is the walk from the drill hall to the restaurants/NEX that you can go with your Sailor after the ceremony. If your Sailor is staying at Great Lakes, s/he will have to go back to RTC barracks and pack to move over to the TSC (Training Support Center, they're in charge of the A Schools there. There is a tiny yellow line with a red dot at each end, right under the blue line in the middle of the pic. I did this for you to see the distance you'll be walking. The distance between dots is shown in the dialog box on the right. That yellow line represents about 132 yards. If I forgot anything, just ask. Even if your Sailor is leaving for A School and can just go with you (not go back and pack) you still may want to stop at the NEX because you can never go back there (unless you have another graduating Sailor!)

My husband just finished bootcamp and we went to his graduation 7/20/12. It is an amazing, amazing thing. But, I thought I would hop over to the groups who have Sailors graduating and give you a tip about driving to the RTC gate.

You will most likely be coming from Buckley Rd and will have to make a right turn into RTC. If this is the case, drive past. Yes, I know, scary, but drive past the gate. You will go through a ramp sort of like a highway ramp and come to a traffic light. Turn right, this is Sheridan. You will come to the main gate for Great Lakes Naval Base. On the right, you will see a small brown sign that says "All visitors use second right". That second right will take you to the Visitors' Center parking lot. Just use it to turn around. You want to be going the other direction when you approach the RTC gate. Leave the Visitor Center parking lot and make a left. Go to the traffic light and take another left. This will bring you right to the RTC gate again. Except this time, you will be making a left turn and you will get a green arrow! No more waiting in line! Plus, the Visitors' Center is where your Sailor will march to after signing in to A School if s/he is staying at Great Lakes, so you'll know exactly where it is. By the way, if you are using a GPS, you can type in Farragut Ave, that is the road that is the main gate. Just remember to go to the second drive or you’ll be heading into the base instead of the visitors’ center

My SR was originally scheduled for graduation 08/10. He called last week to say it was being postponed til 08/24 and that he is now on the JFK ship. I am praying I will be standing along side you all in a couple of weeks.

Got a letter from my son today that he wrote last Thursday. He said that he was getting more letter writing time on Tuesday and Thursday now. They have been getting worked harder. He hasn't been getting much sleep due to watch. They have issued all of their uniforms which he thought was pretty cool. His hip hurts but he won't go to the sick bay cause he doesn't want to repeat anything or get held back. Also he says they're all sick from the pills that they gave them but most of them are…

His hip hurts but he won't go to the sick bay cause he doesn't want to repeat anything or get held back. Also he says they're all sick from the pills that they gave them but most of them are toughing it out. He's getting frustrated and says its a lot like prison except you can't talk, go outside or sleep. He's getting frustrated with the people who won't listen because they are holding everyone back. They are in the classroom all day! (13 hours).....so glad to get the letter but then it broke my heart.....I wrote him back immediately.....all I can do is continue to pray....
Veteran moms ~ Need your help ~ 900's divisionstag:navyformoms.ning.com,2012-07-23:1971797:Topic:72135892012-07-23T06:12:05.515ZCraighttps://navyformoms.ning.com/profile/Craig900

Do you have any cool pictures or graphics for the various 900 sections (band, flags, drill)? I need to come up with some designs that would look cool.

The other coins were easy since it deals strictly with boot camp. The 900's division are a little different and I want to get the coin correct for the sailors...

Thanks again,
