Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thank you for your post, emroha2!  My 18 year old son is in Ship 13 Div 321 and I feel so much better knowing that your husband is there, encouraging the young men.  I know "no news is good news" at this point, but it definitely helps me to know that I will hopefully receive a line or two next week if they're able to write letters this Sunday.  Good luck to you on this journey - the separation is hard for me as a mom but being a former navy wife myself when my current recruit was a baby, I know how hard it was to be a "single mom" while my husband was deployed.  Thanks again for the information!

aprilrenee I'm sure you will get it today! Also, I found out last night that if you send an email to - callsforrecruits@gmail.com they will send back 6 - 8 free phone cards. I got mine last night and included the information in my letter to my son. So hopefully, calls will be coming soon.

I am so glad that I found this page. My son is Ship 13 Div 322. I finally got his "boot camp" letter yesterday. After PIR he goes to "A" school in Pensacola for  Information Technology. His PIR date is the best birthday present I could ever have, as my b-day is on the 29th! I can't wait to see my son all grown up! Hope everyone has a wonderful day and weekend.

Good Morning everyone,

I just got off the phone with my husband he is Ship 13 Div 321 its not the normal 3 aweek call because they have only been there two weeks he needed info that I had to fax and address for child support for my step daughter and so fourth however I did get a min to talk to him really quick while looking for the stuff, he said he is doing good things arnt hard but that since he is the oldest in his divison (31 in september) that they made him group leader and that it just hard because others are younger and well we all know how teens are but he said the guys are great and he keeps encourageing them everyday and letting them all know how brave they are because he said that he told them that he could never have done what they are doing when he was there age and he has the up most respect for them and to hang in there they are doing great. I just thought i would share that with all of you moms here and let you know that my husband loves all your kids and says they are doing well and everyone is getting throu it pretty well. hope this helps some of you that were wondering again it was only a minuite between giving him information but they sound okay in there he asked about the baby when i told him she was crawling he sounded sad but i told him i sent the video to his phone so he doesnt miss anything also he said to send lots of pictures becausethey have none there so keep that in mind when writing letters i sent my letters out the o;ther day he said they didnt get any mail yet im assuming this weekend because he said they havnt been able to write letters yet he said probably this sunday so moms keep your eyes peeled for letters coming probably this wed or thurs hope this helps u guys stay strong its so hard i almost think it would be better if he didnt call because hearing his voice makes me sad but at the same time im glad to know he is okay in there. :)

Happy to be here! Just talked to my husband's recruiter and he said my husband is in Ship 14 Div 323, PIR 8/30. I won't send anything until I get the form letter but I'm happy to have some info and finally be able to join this group!

Good Friday morning everyone. If you want to take a look at a PIR ceremony you can take a look at today's graduation ceremony that will be live-streamed on the internet. They are now doing this for all the ceremonies and it is such a great idea. Families who have to wait in the hotel because there wasn't room for them on the list and even families at home who couldn't go at all can now be a part of this fantastic celebration. I wish they had had this when my daughter was graduating so my mom could have watched it. It starts at 8:45 am Central time. Here's the link, there is also a chat :)   Click herehttp://navylive.dodlive.mil/
The video will display under Live Events during broadcast.
