Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I just want to read his letter and see his writing it will makes things easier! Who knows maybe I'll have a couple letters to read :)

Just think you have something wonderful waiting for you when you get back :) I know it doesn't make it easier, but that letter will. Reading the letters from both of my boys was like a balm to my soul. I have read them over and over, and when you get yours you will feel a part of him is there with you.

Comment by diannep on July 28, 2012 at 3:11pm: Yes, karen, it really will get easier! Hang in there....it is so hard for both them and the ladies here in the beginning because of the lack of communication...and for them, lots of yelling, lots of "can I do anything right" thoughts, etc. It is a "breaking down" period for them so that the RDCs can get them all on the same page. But by training week 4 (Hell Week but it isn't as bad as it sounds), things really start getting better for them. They are much more positive and focused on graduation. By mid-August for this group, you should start to see this positive tone reflected in their letters/calls.
In the meantime, just know that it will definitely get better!
