Has anyone received an actual letter from their sailor yet?? I'm very anxious to hear from him. I'm also worried. He expressed sadness on his form letter home with his PIR information and I've been a wreck since. I've read that the first couple weeks are hardest for them. Is that true?? Is there a limit to the amount of letters I can send him? I heard that they get singled out if they're getting too much mail and I don't want to make anything harder for him. Thanks!!!

Yes, let me correct myself. He said that every Saturday their 3rd RDC picks one person who gets to call someone to say good night - they're the "recruit of the week". On Sundays, the two people with the shiniest boots get a phone call. Also, this past Sunday was their first official Sunday not in processing days, so from now on, on Sundays, they have "Holiday Routine", which means they get free time from 7AM to 1 PM to clean their compartment, take longer showers, write letters, shine their boots, study - pretty much whatever they want :) (My SR is in the 944 division, it probably is not exactly the same in all divisions, however, it might be!)
Hope everyone gets a letter soon! They make you feel SO much better! Be strong :)

Hi all, my son is in Ship 02 Div 944 and I haven't heard a word.  I'm actually crying (at work) reading everyone's post and got really worried about the too much mail. I was glad to hear it's not that bad. He's a little older so I don't think he is as home sick, but it sure would be nice to hear something. I was glad to see someone else in the same ship and division. Maybe I'll get a letter when I get home.

Hang in there Mom1! You can see from the posts that things are pretty arbitrary. I'm praying you get a letter AND a call in the next few days! Barring that , we threatened to send his stuffed gorilla to the CPO OR to send a huge singing card!! Something worked, we got a letter and it was good. Can't wait for you all to get yours! Such a load off your mind.

My son is also Ship 02 Div 944 and I have not heard or gotten a letter from him. Fingers crossed we will see something soon!

Be strong! I live only about an hour away from Great Lakes, that is probably why it took only one day for the mail to get to me. I'm happy I found someone in the same division :) My SR said that you can send as much mail as you want, just no packages. A lot of people get mail on Wednesdays or Thursdays. Hope you get something soon! Fingers crossed :)

SHIP 02 DIV 944 WOW rec'd my first letter today. I thought it would make me feel better but I can't stop crying. He wasn't happy at first but he said it's gotten better. He said it looks like they and I'm assuming his Division will graduate on time. Still not exactly sure. I hope so since we booked our flights today.

No call or letter here yet either. Getting so anxious seeing that others are starting to receive them. Hope it isn't too much longer.

Cooper 137 it must be new England mail system. Tomorrow will be our day

I got my first letter today, exactly 3 weeks since my SR has been gone.. No call yet though.. Sounds like all is well and adjusting just fine...

tears are flowing...I got my letter

He is doing great...

He wanted me to know he was eating good.  Salad. veggies  and that he missed deadline for first mail

So happy for you! :)

Received my first letters today! 3 of them totaling 9 pages front and back as well as the questionaire returned! It was great talking to her on the phone yesterday, but even better to read the day to day account that she's been keeping! Parts of it made me cry, parts of it made me laugh, all of it made me proud to be her mom! I think she summed it up best when she said that she thinks boot camp makes you Bipolar! One minute you're pumped up about being there and the next ready to do anything to get out! lol. Even their division flag shows this as they have EFD and WFB on it  (Easy F___ Day and We're F____ Behind!
