N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hi - I'm new too.  I thought I posted on here earlier but don't see it so who knows where I posted.  :)    I wish I would have signed on here weeks ago!  My son is in Ship 11 Div 356.  We're excited to go to PIR.  I watched the livestream a couple of weeks ago and it seems so cool.  We're flying in around 6:00 pm on the 19th, renting a car and then hopefully making it in time for the Ramada Inn's Meet & Greet.  Would love to meet some other parents as well.  From what I'm reading we should be able to spend most of Friday with him?  We plan on checking out of the hotel on Saturday because I think he will be flying out to A school, but of course I haven't heard for sure.  I would hate to leave when we could have more time with him.  It's hard to make reservations in advance when you really aren't sure of what you're doing or supposed to be doing!

Another question: if my son didn't pass any of his other required tests like physical, he wouldn't b able to participate in battlestations correct?? Would he call and tell us that he didn't pass and his battlestations would be delayed?? Understand my question??

Welcome to the group Darlene!  You are just in time for BattleStations which start this week for some divisions in this PIR group.  I posted the link below. Just click on it.  The other divisions (yours being one of them) will do their BattleStations the first part of PIR week.  We can't post dates here on this site but be ready for a great call from your sailor in the afternoon early next week!  Calls can start as early as 2 pm Central time and go for a while.

Keep practicing on this site...that is how I got familiar.  I have been on here since 2009, so have had lots of practice!  Just know that the top right corner of this page has your "personal" info under your screen name.  You will see your INBOX (messages from others on here), FRIEND REQUESTS (ladies trying to get to know you so accept their request), ALERTS (have never used that), and SETTINGS (where you can add a pik on here if you like, control notifications you get by tweaking the "email" options, etc).  At the bottom of your MY PAGE (tab up top), you will see comments from other ladies on here....you can click on the COMMENT BACK in the post box, go to their personal page and comment back.

Once you practice, it isn't hard!  Where will your almost-sailor go to A School?  I can guide you to that group on here.  That will be very helpful to you too, even though you will be back in touch with your sailor (they can have phones/laptops at A School) after Bootcamp.

Glad you are here!  I'm going to try and friend request you now.  So look for a notification in the top right of your MY PAGE (tab up top).  I am going to send you BattleStations info for your division so be sure to read it BEFORE you hit the ACCEPT button or it goes away!  Once you read it, you are welcome to hit ACCEPT and practice messaging with me!  :-)

For you information, everyone,  there is a larger NEX (Navy Exchange Store) off base, not far away.  The one at RTC is the size of a 7-11 or gas station convenience store and really crowded after PIR.  So if you don't have any business needing photos or ordering the Keel or PIR dvd at the Photo Lab, head over to this one:

          Burkey Mall NEX                               www.mynavyexchange.com

          Greenbay Road

          Building No 3452

          Great Lake,  IL

                 Monday - Saturday       9:00 am - 8:00 pm

                 Sunday                       10:00 am - 6:00 pm
