~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Johnette: Check out Southwest Airlines.....their Wanna Getaway Rates are usually good and they run specials alot. There is no change fee in case your SR is delayed for any reason, and 2 bags check for free. If you have to cancel for any reason, your ticket is good for a year. You can check Southwest both into Chicago-Midway (hour+ to GL) and Milwaukee (45 min to GL). Milwaukee may be cheaper, no traffic, cheaper car rental too.
LoriJa: A friend of mine stayed there a few years ago and said it was nice. Good location....next to the Walmart with restaurants nearby. 4-5 miles to PIR. They use the local shuttle service for PIR morning (Sarge also has a shuttle service, same price). Very close to Sarge's MeetandGreet held the night before PIR.
Good Morning All !
Johnette, I booked our tickets through SouthWest Airlines. We are flying into Milwaukee from LAX. Midway looks too far. I like SW because if we have to change our flight, we can without penalties. Also, I found that it was cheaper to fly into Milwaukee for some reason. I like that airport too. Lastly, they don't charge for checking bags or have carry on fees. I do think prices seem higher this year, unfortunately.
Anyone staying at the Courtyard Marriott? I booked our reservations there. It looked nice.
OK pmhug23, you have me beat, I only had 3 letters to send today! LOL I'm so glad to see that your SR is in ship 11, Div 365 too! I'm hoping to get a call from her sometime next week. I mailed her a calling card today in her letter. I'll tell you one thing, it's hard to keep the cards down to 1 oz or less!
Trent33 My son is in the same group
I booked at the Navy Lodge as well!
Needing to book some flights...........Anyone know any tricks to get cheap flights?? Or where to book?? And where to stay?? ..........My SR is Ship 03 Div 368........No phone call yet.........We are about to go NUTS!!!
cathymg: Be sure to read Dorothea's post below yours about the Navy Lodge. Other hotels that have received great reviews on this site are:
Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express----all in Waukegan/Gurnee (4-5 miles from RTC) and near Sarge's MeetandGreet held the night before PIR. There is PIR shuttle service from these hotels....Sarge also has a shuttle service (same price). $3/pp each way.
