N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Good morning fellow Navy families! My daughter left for GL July 29 (supposed to be on the 31st). She is Ship 14 DIV 362. Telling her goodbye was the hardest/proudest moment of my life! Other than a week at camp in 6th grade this is the longest we have ever been apart. Cannot wait for PIR so I can hug her again!

Nikki:  You can also take Sarge's shuttle if you want to.  Walking is out of the question, from what I have been told by ellen who stayed there.  No sidewalks....lots of traffic....not "walking friendly."

One of Sarge's hints for driving:  Stay to the left like Lala said, but bypass RTC, turn around in the train parking lot or nearby (right past RTC) and approach RTC from the opposite direction.  Very easy to turn left into RTC that way.

Sarge's number for those interested in his shuttle service:  847 212 0246

I drove from the Navy Lodge and it worked well for us. We left our hotel at 6:30 am were on base, parked and checked in and in our seats by 7:30 so that wasn't bad at all. When you get to the main hwy from the Navy Lodge you will see all the cars lined up. get in the lane to the left of the car line because that lane ends and everyone will have to merge to the left. It will save you some time :)

You can drive, kinda a long walk, but you have to make sure you print your pass to get on the base if u drive. And I highly suggest if your driving to leave early cause not only traffic for PIR but normal base traffic is very busy.

Does anyone know if you can drive to the NAVY RTC for graduation from the NAVY LODGE?  Or do you have to walk...I saw something about someone said it would be better to take a taxi or something..So I was just curious.  I do know it's about a mile and a half away from the NAVY LODGE to RTC.
