Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Dcmmom. yes pls do share. felt the same way. I don't want to share and just kept myself busy, it didn't work. I got sick. love-love N4M's, N4D's, FB PIR 10/3 support group. It helps a lot to think that my family is not alone in this journey.

Dcmmom, Please share. This is the place to do it. Deep down I am also a " hot mess" but, I try and hide it. I can't seem to accomplish anything anymore. Yes...I go to work every day...come home...I don't even feel like cooking any more and, I love to cook. I am making list of all of his favorite things to take down to Il. He LOVED candy and ice cream so will make sure to have all of his favorites at the hotel. He probally won't want any of that any longer but, I will have it there just in case. I am looking at every restaurant in the area and know the location so I will be ready for what he is craving.. We have been down there quite a few times since living just in Wisconsin and my niece lives in Gurnee so that helps. So...you see....we all handle it differently.

I struggle, daily. I didn't want to be part of navy4moms because I didnt want to share the sick feeling I get daily because my son is gone. I am extremely proud of him and encourage him with every letter and phone conversation. I have 2 boys at home that keep me occupied, a job and I recently graduated from nursing school awaiting to sit for boards. If only i could concentrate. I feel like a 'hot mess' 3/4 of the time. Everyone around me thinks I'm nuts. So, i try not to share my feelings or bare my emotions. Oct 3 cannot get here quick enough. Diannep could you send info for battle station (ship09/Div308)

The only reason that I am staying strong and feeling better is for the reason, my son's last letter was so positive. I still miss him terribly and HATE the empty house...but....SUPER excited for Oct 3rd.
