For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My hubby and I were talking today & he figured that the Pensacola A schoolers weren't going to be grad N go because it's a short flight to FL from GL. My son said he didn't know yet when he would leave. You are the first one I've heard who knows for sure their SR is g n g.

Just want to prepare so of those that aren't familiar with the changeable weather we have up here

Where in WI are u? Right now the the weather is quite balmy. I had my AC on today. My son said some of the SR's from the southern states thought it was cold. Not yet!

Has anyone else gotten letters this week? I know my days are usually on Thursdays....Can you believe it only 3 weeks away?????? I'M SO EXCITED AND ANXIOUS too! I pray every night they all make it.....

My older son is a seabee who was stationed in san diego. we are from the east coast so it was a big change for him. he missed rain and thunderstorms. and the worst part for him was driving past the dallas cowboy training camp. he is a diehard philadelphia eagle fan. they HATE the cowboys.

Comment by mom2nw on September 14, 2010 at 5:51pm: for PIR 10/8....welcome to the Midwest ladies!....I'm about 75 miles north of GL...last year on 10/15 we had snow here!. and as they say in the weather forecasts here....cooler near the lake... If outside, dress in layers, hopefully it's not to the snowmobile suit stage yet, then! haha

It's funny because my son made the comment "mom I may be shipping out at 2:00 a.m.....but I don't know for sure. I am thinking he may know and just doesn't want to tell us yet. I assured him we would spend whatever time we had and then go and see him in a few weeks once he is settled in Connecticut. I was hoping we would have more time but again, I will take Friday as I miss him a lot!!
