Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by jamielyn on September 14, 2010 at 3:36pm: When I talked to my husband on the phone the other day *does happy dance*, he was saying how he didn't think they would be wearing the white uniform, but some other uniform? I told him how all the pictures I saw of other PIR's they are all wearing the white uniform...sooo I don't know how informed he is on that whole deal..I would think they would all wear the white.
I have no idea what to pack!! What are you all planning on wearing for the PIR ceremony? I mean I assumed something nice, what should the weather be like in Oct? I guess either way it will be indoors, but I am still at a loss!

Comment by Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours) on September 14, 2010 at 2:49pm: Ship10 - I had a shirt made - Navy Blue with the Navy logo on left side and on the right side my sons name: SR Last, First and under that his ship and div - I got sooooo many compliments on it and I wore it everywhere!!!! There is an embroidery shop near where I live and she did it for me!!!!

I think I'm going to have a shirt made w/ my avatar, screenname, ship & div on it, and will be wearing a ribbon. I think it's pretty much indivual. Pin, name-tag, shirt, whatever suits your fancy and works for your budget! Maybe I'll wear the hat I am in my avatar - then should be easy to spot! :-) Getting excited - will let everyone know the minute I have mail / news!! Hugs to all -

Comment by NavyMomLG on September 14, 2010 at 2:33pm: Ship10 - Sorry to hear you haven't gotten a letter lately and no calls. The letter I got last weekend explained that my son had watch duty at the time they made their first calls home on Labor Day. It's possible your son has been in the same situation when his division got their calls. It was so sweet, he said it was THE worst day of BC for him.

I like the idea of setting up the tables by division too. I am happy to help with any set up if needed. I will also post something on my division discussion since I don't see all of them on this discussion. Did we decide anything on the nametags or shirts?
