Hi, ProudMona: Don't worry about the wisdom teeth. They give them SIQ time (time to rest in their bunks) after this. This is a very common procedure in bootcamp so try not to worry! They keep a close check on the SRs.
Hello, My son is on Ship 11 and Div 331. I was wondering if anyone received a phone call yet. I am concerned due to the fact that my son had to have his wisdom teeth pulled last week. I am hoping he is doing ok. I am not really sure how long they let them rest after that. Or they just keep on going. The letter I received was very funny and upbeat. The letter came at a perfect time for me. I was starting to feel low.

navywife0514 - First, SUPER BIG WIFEY HUGS for you! I have been a reservist wife for 28 years and been through two deployments...numerous schools etc. LOL
I would ask about A school moves on the GF, Fiance...group you are on. I think AntiM has some great info about that. She may be on vacation right now...but ask anyway and I am sure someoen else can help you and give adice.
One thing...and this is NOT a "fun" thing for me to post...you will need lots of support while he is in A school (and beyond of course! ). I know that you 'know" this and I am sure you have been thinking about it and planning...but it always "feels" different once you are in it. He will be very focused on his studies....so while you may be together again...it's not going to "feel" that way a lot of the time. BUT on the good note ...you will be together again!
I have always wished that I had support...good support...in the youth of our marriage...it would have made things a lot better. Now, there are books on deployment and being a military wife from women sharing their experiences. Very helpful for those days when you think you are the "only one"! Sometimes I felt so bad for thinking certain things...come to find I wasn't the only one! Ex: When he was deployed this last time...I got so angry during predeployment (which I equivalate to "P" days in BC...He!! on earth!) The first Chapter in one of the books that his Command had given us wives was about just that! Something like "I'd Rather be Angry than Sad Game"...and how to avoid it of course. It helped me understand that I was displacing my fears with the anger. As a reservist wife...I don't live on BAae or close (45 minutes) and even then no real connection with the active duty families so while I might have gone to the FRG...it would've been a bit hard...the books helped so much...and this site. He was deployed while our son was in BC. This site and the ladies diannep, LaLa, Betsy, JessicaB and my PIR group..."saved" me! :-)
Here's some pics!
Okay...the pic above… See the yellow lines? Those start off to the left at the big garage door that opens to let your Sailors in. They'll come in in order of their Divisions and march all the way to the other end and make a U-ee, march back and then line up in formation by division. See the closest set of stacked chairs? That is where the first Division will stand…then it goes on down the line. The 900 Div is in the middle I believe (they come in after...a space is left for them) I believe the 800 Divisions march in last…but don’t quote me on that!
When you come into the Hall you will see Sailors on the floor standing next to Division markers. This is where your Division will be standing for PIR. You should sit in the stands in front of the marker. The markers are positioned so that when you sit in the stands your Division is a little bit to the right of you. There is also seating upstairs in the balcony.
Here is another pic of a Division Marker:
...you can see the Garage Door Entrance open on the left side of the pic...this was before the ceremony. The Divison markers are removed before the ceremony.
Heidemarie, Seats are not assigned and it is on a first come first seated basis. There are sailors standing in the drill hall with signs showing where each division will be standing during PIR, so you will want to sit accordingly.
The seats themselves are not sectioned off per division.
Heidemarie: Yes, most of the hotels will have packets for Navy families that have great info in them....restaurants, in the area, etc. They love their sailors!
HonoraryMom:> The "Liberty" call is announced and it is pretty much a free for all! Be careful in the stands...some literally bolt out towards their sailors. The sailors act more formal, but do start looking for their family...if they have spotted you in the stands, they will keep their eye on you after liberty call. It really is not organized. Don't worry, all manage to find their sailors! Your division should be right in front of you which narrows it down.
