mdorn, anyone can stay at the Navy Lodge in Great Lakes for PIR. You have to call the hotel direct and they put the room in your recruits name. They just ask that they stop by the front desk at some point after PIR but they really don't enforce that. They will give her a free pass for shopping at the Nex that is just down the street. Normally you have to have Military ID to shop there. The beds were very comfortable and it was very affordable. I would definitely stay there again :-)
subdad who can reserve at the navy lodge? my son's wife? We are in the process of booking a ticket for her and of course need to get her a room. thanks I probably wont be able to go but am making sure she is there.
Hi Everyone
Hoping we all get our mail and calls this week. I received my first letter yesterday.He said he adjusted quickly thanks to the time he spent in ROTC in high school and that he was able to impress the RDC's!.? He said those who haven't adjusted are yelled at a lot. My son said he was just breezing thru and that bootcamp was not hard at all (he might not want me to worry?). He said he's always glad he can help those who have had a little trouble. Passed his swimming and a physical test was to follow. He says he's a good marcher and that he can sound off (yell loud). He was also being so thankful for supporting him and giving him the values we did because that was why he was able to withstand the harshness of the RDC's and the sadnes of being away from home. Well im so glad to hear he has been doing okay that gives me a Peace of Mind. : )
39 Days to goooo !!!
I think that is funny that they have to iron socks, t-shirts and underwear.
Lets hope for a call on Mon it is a holiday.
O one other thing he said in his letter about phone calls..
He said he is on laundry duty (anyone else) he said that if they stay on spot all week they would get to call home..
He also said that he had to go because he had to go iron his towels, socks. and underwear..
I find it funny that he is on laundry duty because that is the one thing I could never get him to help with..
It was so good to have some communication with him..
I can relate melray, I cried a lot and sometime for no reason at all other than I just missed her. My husband would just look at me, shake his said and say she's fine. No one in my family understood what I was going through. But no worries, we all understand what you are going through and we are here to help {{{{HUGS}}}}
39 more days and all i can say is PIR can not get here soon enough!!!! i am so ready to see my SR!!! Got my fingers crossed that we get phone calls soon... i miss my boys smart ass comments that use to drive me crazy....
