WELCOME TO PIR 10/12/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

How do we get a gate pass to wait with our Sailor at the airport? She said to meet her at the USO at O'hare but she can't leave her group to come with us to the ticket counter, so not sure how this works.

Happy PIR Day :D I know you are super excited for those big doors to open and reveal all the new Sailors marching in. That is a moment you will cherish for the rest of your life :D Have a wonderful time

Wow. Can't believe I was where you are nine months ago. Waiting on my sailor to walk through those doors. Now he is on his first deployment. Enjoy your day with your sailor. Just do what they want to do but don't be surprised if they seem like they can't make any decisions. Won't be long and they will be very decisive. Hope all of you have a wonderful day. You and your sailor deserve it

Have a wonderful day today!  Remember, no photos are allowed to be taken outside of the PIR Hall.  But you can take plenty inside!  You will have about 10-15 minutes at the end of PIR to get your hugs/piks before they clear the hall.

Hope you have either arrived at RTC by now or are on your way!  Enjoy!

I wish I had an answer for that kaitsmom.

Someone asked this on RTC FB:

Question for Training Command. Can people not on the list come and wait in the car, to meet with the recruit after the ceremony. Or can only people on the list be allowed on base? Thanks in advance

This was their answer:

U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command (posters name) the list is for those attending graduation.
So, I take it as a "no". Otherwise they would have explained further. I think they want to keep it as "simple" as possible with so many Divisions graduating. Security is always an issue.

They have to put more personnel on as well I am sure. You have the potential of 1100 recruits in the PIR Hall on deck and if everyone had their alloted 4 guests...4400 more people as well as 2 extra 900 Divisions...VIP's and upper brass Whew...

I do understand that it is a bummer though :-(
